(LEBANON, Ill., Jan. 16) – The McKendree University women's hockey team is set to return from break with two games this weekend. The Bearcats will play host to both the University of Massachusetts on Friday and Midland University on Saturday. Friday's matchup is scheduled for 7:30pm and Saturday is slated for 2:30pm.
The Bearcats sit at 9-6 overall on the season, last splitting a series with Midland on Nov. 23-24.
Leading the attack for McKendree are seniors
Lara Wentz (Bismark, ND/),
Alyssa Albee (Brookfield, WI/Brookfield Central), and freshman
Camryn Scully (Prince George, BC, Canada/Prince George Secondary School). Wentz paces the offense with 10 goals, six assists, and 16 points. Albee follows closely behind with eight goals, seven assists, and 15 points. Scully also posts eight goals, totaling 14 points.
Senior
Delayne Ivanowski (Kirkwood, MO/Kirkwood), junior
Callie Hoadley (Hanover, MA/Hanover High School), and freshman
Quinn Atchison (Victoria, BC, Canada/Belmont Seconday School) guide the offense with a team-leading eight assists apiece.
In net, the primary goalie is sophomore
Naomi Leasck (St. Louis, MO/Lindbergh High School) with a 4-6 record, 2.46 goals against average, and .909 save percentage with one shutout.
About Massachusetts
The Minutewomen are 10-4-1 overall on the season. McKendree bested Massachusetts last season 6-1 during the Robert Morris University Showcase. Katerina Nikolopoulos leads the offense with 10 goals, 14 assists, and 24 points. Juliana Dolan is second with nine goals, 11 assists, and 20 points.
Casey Marshall is the main netminder with a 9-4-1 record, 2.26 goals against average, and .922 save percentage with five shutouts.
About Midland
The Warriors enter the weekend at 9-10 overall on the season. Allison Conybear guides the offense with a team-leading 20 assists and 25 points. Tieryn Arens leads the team in goals with 11, also posting 10 assists and 21 points.
In net, McKenna Gehner and Andrea Schreiber have split each game. Gehner has a 6-5 record in 11 games, 2.17 goals against average, and .911 save percentage with six shutouts. Schreiber posts a 3-5 record in 10 games, 4.52 goal against average, and .838 save percentage.
