Women’s Basketball Set to Begin Four-Game Road Series with Contests at Lindenwood, UMSL

(LEBANON, Ill., Jan. 29) –
The McKendree University is scheduled for a four-game road stretch beginning with a game at Lindenwood University in St. Charles, Mo., on Thursday, Jan. 30 at 5:30 p.m. followed by a game at Missouri-St. Louis on Saturday, Feb. 1 at 1:00 p.m. in St. Louis, Mo.

The Bearcats are 10-8 overall on the season and 3-7 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) after falling to Truman State 77-60 in its last conference contest. McKendree sits in ninth place in the league standings with ten contests remaining in the regular season.

Senior guard Jordan Heberg (Romeoville, IL/Plainfield North) and sophomore guard Jenna Krause (Seymour, WI/Seymour) are both averaging double-digit points per game for the Bearcats. Heberg leads the team with 14.6 points per game on average with 249 total points on the season. Krause follows suit with 11.0 average points per game and 187 points on the season.

Senior guard Madison Hart (Oak Creek, WI/Oak Creek) leads the team in rebounds and currently sits in third place in the league with 176 total rebounds on the season. 151 of the 176 rebounds are defensive for Hart, placing her first in the league for defensive rebounds. Senior forward Brianna Johnson (Lodi, WI/Beaver Dam) is also a key rebounded for the Bearcats with 90 on the season, 23 offensive and 67 defensive.

The Bearcats will close out the four-game road stretch with games at Missouri S&T on Feb. 6 at 5:30 p.m. and at Maryville University on Feb. 8 at 1:00 p.m.

ABOUT LINDENWOOD:
Lidenwood is 10-6 overall on the season and 6-4 in GLVC play after defeating the University of Illinois Springfield 70-59in its last conference contest. Five Lions are averaging double-digit points per game on the season. Kallie Bildner leads the way with 21.1 ppg, Devin Fuhring is next with 15.5, Lindsay Medlen follows with 11.8, Hennessey Handy is close behind with 11.2, and Julia Ruzevich rounds out the efforts with 10.5 points per game on average. Bildner and Kate Ruzevich lead the team in rebounds, Bildner with 153 and Ruzevich with 103 total rebounds.

ABOUT UMSL:
Overall on the season, UMSL is 8-11 and 3-7 in GLVC competition after defeating Lewis 71-60 in its last contest. Two Tritons are averaging double-digit points; Laura Szorenyi with 12.5 and Alex LaPorta with 10.7. LaPorta and Kiara Stewart lead the team in rebounds, LaPorta with 157 and Stewart with 127 rebounds on the season.
