(LEBANON, Ill., Jan. 8) –
The McKendree University men's basketball team is set to take on two top nationally ranked competitors in No. 1 Bellarmine and No. 16 Indianapolis this weekend. The Bearcats will face Bellarmine on Thursday, Jan. 9 at 7:30 p.m. and then Indianapolis on Saturday, Jan. 11 at 3:00 p.m.

McKendree is coming off its second league win over a ranked opponent, defeating No. 25 Drury 80-70. The first win over a nationally ranked opponent for the Bearcats was against, at the time, No. 10 Southern Indiana in early Dec., 68-64. McKendree is 7-4 overall on the season and 2-1 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC).  

Three Bearcats are averaging double-figures for the McKendree offense. Senior guard Logan Kohrmann (Bartelso, IL/Breese Central) sets the pace with 16.6 average points per game on the season and 17.3 in league games, junior guard Oliver Stephen (Edwardsville, IL/Edwardsville) follows suit with a 13.3 average, and sophomore forward Aleksa Popovic (Belgrade, Serbia/BC Partizan Belgrade) rounds out the efforts with 10.3 average points per game.

Other impact players for Mckendree are freshman guard Bryson Bultman (Nashville, IL/Nashville) and freshman forward Jakobie Robinson (Indianapolis, IN/Warren Central). Bultman leads the team in both rebounds and assists, tallying 80 total rebounds and 42 assists on the season thus far. With his 80 total rebounds, Bultman sits tied for seventh place in the league in rebounds. Robinson leads the Bearcats in blocks and steals with 11 blocks and 18 steals. The 18 steals on the season has Robinson tied for tenth in the GLVC in steals.

The Bearcats will head West the following week to take on William Jewell College and Rockhurst University. The game against the Cardinals is set for Thursday, Jan. 16 at 7:30 p.m and the game against the Hawks is scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 18 at 3 p.m.

ABOUT NO. 1 BELLARMINE:
Bellarmine is the only NCAA DII men's basketball program that remains undefeated with a perfect 10-0 record, earning them the first place ranking in the NCAA NABC Coaches Poll. The Knights are also 3-0 in the GLVC coming off a 56-50 win over Lewis.

Three Knights are averaging double-digit points per game on the season for Bellarmine. Alex Cook sets the pace averaging 15.6 points per game, Dylan Penn follows with 13.7 APPG, and Ben Weyer rounds out the offensive efforts for the Knights with 13.2 average points per game. Weyer is also the rebound leader for Bellarmine with 45 total rebounds on the season.

ABOUT NO. 16 INDIANAPOLIS:
Indianapolis currently sits at No. 16 in the NCAA NABC Coaches Poll with a 9-2 overall record. The Greyhounds two losses have come from league play as UIndy is currently 1-2 in the GLVC after suffering a 71-69 loss to Bellarmine and a 79-69 loss to the University of Illinois Springfield.

Four Greyhounds are averaging double-digit figures for Indianapolis. Trevor Lakes leads the team with a 16.3 points per game average, Jordache Mavunga follows closely with a 15.3 average, Jimmy King is next with 13.3, and Marcus Latham rounds out the efforts for the Greyhounds with 12 points per game on average. Lakes also leads the team in total rebounds with 52 on the season.
