(LEBANON, Ill. – Oct. 2) The McKendree University men's tennis team travels to Quincy on Saturday, October 4
th to take on Quincy University to kick off their 2020-2021 season
The Bearcats are coming off a shortened season following the outset of the COVID-19 pandemic, finishing the season with an 11-6 record before the reason was postponed. This match will be the first time the Bearcats have taken the court sense March 23rd when they squared off against the University of Findley.
The Bearcats will be led by sophomore standout
Jaydn Richardson (Wichita, KS/Andover), who finished last years abbreviated campaign with a combined record of 14-14, with 11 of those wins coming in singles play and the last three coming in doubles play.
The Bearcats will also lean fellow returnee, junior
Vishnu Prasad (Chennai, India/National Institute of Open Schooling), who finished last years campaign with 11 wins, seven of which came in doubles competition. Sophomore
Santiago Tintore (Barcelona, Spain/Leon XIII) will also play a large role this year as a returning Bearcat on this young team. Tintore finished last season with 10 wins, six of which came in doubles play for the Bearcats.
The Bearcats will also be looking for immediate contributions from the newest class of players coming on campus this year, with there being nine new faces on the team this year. One of which is sophomore transfer
Ryan Fung (Miami, Fl/Miami Palmetto Senior High), who during his one year at Southwestern University, earned ITA NAIA individual rankings in both singles and doubles, with Fung climbing as high as 13
th in singles and 9
th in doubles.
The Bearcats will be taking the court at 9 a.m. in Quincy Illinois on Saturday, October 4
