(LEBANON, Ill. – Dec. 1) – The McKendree University women's basketball team will hit the road for their first away competition of the 2020-21 season. Kari Kerkhoff and her team will face the Miners of Missouri S&T on Thursday, Dec. 3 at 5:30 PM, followed by a home contest against the Greyhounds of University of Indianapolis on Saturday, Dec. 5 at 1:00 PM.

The Bearcats move to 0-1 overall, 0-1 in Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) competition following a 61-70 loss to Rockhurst Sunday afternoon. The Bearcats shot 24 points from the paint, had 14 fast break points and 18 point came from the bench. The score was tied on seven different occasions, and McKendree erased double-digit deficits to take a momentarily lead late in the third quarter.

Senior Madison Jones (Abingdon, IL/Abiingdon-Avon) led team with 17 points, including going 6-6 in attempts from the free throw line. Redshirt-junior Sydney Diekhoff (Pekin, IL/Pekin Community) added 13 points, including two three-pointers. Freshman Christy Fortune (Appleton, WI/Appleton West) made her presence known with 12 points and one steal.

ABOUT MISSOURI S&T
The Miners are 0-1 overall this season and 0-1 in GLVC contests. In their most recent contest, they dropped their season-opener against Maryville 83-71. They had three players finish with double digits, led by Alex Kerr who scored 22 points and 11 rebounds. She was joined by Laura Rodriguez who scored 20 points, and Marta Durk who scored 18 points.

ABOUT UNIVERSITY OF INDIANAPOLIS
The greyhounds are 0-2 overall this season, 0-2 in GLVC competitions. Even with an 18-8 run in the final five minutes of the Sunday afternoon contest, the greyhounds would ultimately fall 68-76 to the bulldogs of Truman State. Their team was led by sophomore Lauren With who scored 16 points. She was followed by seniors Taylor Drury and Mickey Sasson who each scored 10 points. The greyhounds will play Lewis University on Thursday, Dec. 3 before their contest against the Bearcats on Saturday afternoon in the Harry M. Statham Sports Center.
