(LYNCHBURG, Va., Feb. 1) – The McKendree University women's hockey team suffered a 3-1 defeat to Liberty University late Friday night on the road. The Bearcats have a quick turnaround, playing the second game of the series at 1:30pm ET on Saturday.
 
Following the loss, McKendree moves to 11-8 overall on the season.
 
The Flames struck once in each period before the Bearcats could get on the board. Freshman Madison Puffalt (Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Canada/Athol Murray College of Notre Dame) scored an unassisted power-play goal to get McKendree back within two with 11 minutes remaining in the third period.
 
McKendree fought back in the final period, firing 11 shots on goal but were unable to find the back of the net twice more. Liberty would go on to take 3-1 victory over the Bearcats.
