(LEXINGTON, Ky., Feb. 11) – Sophomore setter Ryan Serrano (Anthem, AZ/Boulder Creek) from the McKendree men's volleyball team has been selected as the Sports Imports / American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) National Player of the Week For DI-DII.

Serrano played a pivotal role in the Bearcats 3-2 win over No. 6 Lewis this past Friday with his career high six kills, 84.7 hitting percentage, and 41 assists. The win marked a new program best as the highest ranked opponent that the Bearcats have ever defeated.

Serrano will sit in the record books as the first ever McKendree men's volleyball player to be awarded this national honor. This week, Serrano also nabbed Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (MIVA) Offensive Player of the Week honors.

The Bearcats will resume MIVA competition with two road matches at Ball State and Ohio State. Thursday's match against the Cardinals and Saturday's match against the Buckeyes is set to begin at 7 p.m. ET.
