Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 (ROSEMONT, Ill., Feb. 20) – The McKendree University softball team defeated the Pride of Purdue-Northwest by a score of 9-1 and fell to the Rangers of Parkside 1-0. The Bearcats are now 2-6 on the year.
 
McKendree dropped their first contest of the day to the Parkside Rangers with after a single run was scored in the first. Despite the loss, junior pitcher Miranda Gajewski (Kronenwetter, WI/D.C. Everest) allowed just four total hits.
 
Against the Pride of Purdue-Northwest, Senior Jenny Homann (Freeburg, IL/Freeburg High School) got a single to tie up the game 1-1 in the fourth inning, while freshman Kelsey Sachs (Troy, MO/Troy Buchanan High School) came up with a single and 3 RBIs in the fourth as well. In the sixth, junior Shelby Summer (Washington, IL/Washington High School) came up with a double to score two while Miranda Gajewski (Kronenwetter, WI/D.C. Everest) got a base hit up the middle to score Whitney Boschert (Wentzville, MO/Francis Howell High School) to extend the lead to 9-1 in the fifth. Junior MaKenzie Carter pitched thru all five innings, giving up only one hit and striking out eight batters.
 
Softball will be back in action tomorrow to wrap up tournament play against the University of Findlay and Ashland at 9:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. respectively.
