(LEBANON, Ill., Feb. 26) – The McKendree University women's basketball team will close out its 2019-20 season on the road at the University of Indianapolis and Bellarmine University. The game against the Greyhounds is scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 27 at 5:30 p.m. ET., in Indianapolis, Ind., and the contest against the Knights is set for Saturday, Feb. 29 at 1:00 p.m. ET., in Louisville, Ky.
The Bearcats are 12-14 overall on the season and 5-13 in Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) competition. In its last contest, McKendree defeated Illinois Springfield 83-76 in its final home game on the season on senior day.
Senior guard
Jordan Heberg (Romeoville, IL/Plainfield North) leads the team in scoring with 375 points on the season, averaging 14.4 points per game. Senior guard
Madison Hart (Oak Creek, WI/Oak Creek) and sophomore guard
Jenna Krause (Seymour, WI/Seymour) are also averaging double-digit points per game for McKendree, each at 10.0 ppg on the season. Junior guard
Callie Pohlman (Appleton, WI/Appleton North) leads the Bearcats in assists with 74 this season.
The rebound leader for the Bearcats is Hart who has tallied 251 total rebounds on the season, 39 offensive and 212 defensive. Senior forward
Brianna Johnson (Lodi, WI/Beaver Dam) is also a strong rebounder for McKendree as the only other Bearcat in triple digits with 140 total rebounds on the season. Hart and Pohlman lead the team in steals, Hart with 44 and Pohlman with 36.
ABOUT INDIANAPOLIS:
The Greyhounds are 18-8 overall on the season and 11-7 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. UIndy won its last contest against Missouri S&T to put it back on a winning pattern and currently has an 8-5 home record on the season. In the last matchup between the Greyhounds and the Bearcats, McKendree fell 56-45 at home on Jan. 11.
ABOUT BELLARMINE:
Bellarmine is 15-10 overall on the season and 10-8 in GLVC competition. The Knights fell in their last contest to Maryville University 93-70 on the road. Bellarmine holds a 10-4 home record for the season. The Bearcats and the Knights battled into overtime in their last matchup on Jan. 9 where Bellarmine came out on top 89-86.
