(CHICAGO, Ill., Feb. 27) – The McKendree University men's volleyball team fell to Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (MIVA) opponent Loyola Chicago in four sets 3-1 on the road Thursday night. The Bearcats are now 9-7 overall on the season and 3-3 in MIVA competition.
McKendree dropped the opening set of the night 25-13. The Bearcats rebounded and recorded their best team hitting percentage in the second set at .333 percent but still weren't able to overpower the Ramblers and fell 25-22. McKendree kept the match alive with a 25-22 victory in the third set to force a fourth set. Loyola claimed the match 3-1 with a 25-15 win in the fourth set.

Ethan Carroll (Barrington, IL/Barrington) led the way with 13 kills while junior outside hitter
Patrick Ross (Anthem, AZ/Boulder Creek) and senior opposite
Zach Schnittker (Arlington Heights, IL/Buffalo Grove) each collected 10 kills. Freshman setter
Tyler Poulsen (Gilbert, AZ/Campo Verde) assisted the Bearcats 35 times in the match.

Francisco Comas (Naperville, IL/Neuqua Valley High School) led McKendree in digs as the lone Bearcat to tally double-digit digs with 10 in the match. Poulsen was also an essential player for McKendree on the back line with nine digs and at the net for the Bearcats defense with three block assists.
The Bearcats will continue their four-game road stint with a match against Purdue Fort Wayne on Saturday, Feb. 29. First serve is set for 4 p.m. ET.
