(LEBANON, Ill., March 13) - The McKendree University Athletic Department has canceled all athletic contests, both home and away, until April 5 due to the Coronavirus announced by athletic director Chuck Brueggemann on Friday.

All Great Lakes Valley Conference spring championships have been cancelled as well as all remaining winter GLVC championships. There will be no practices allowed during this duration but the facilities will remain open for individual use.

Academics will be moved to online platforms until April 5 or until further announced. Residence halls and dining halls will remain open.

"We are taking every precaution we can in order to protect our student athletes, staff, and opponents," said Brueggemann. "It's disheartening to end the season in this manner but at the end of the day the safety of those affiliated with the university are our biggest concern."

At this time McKendree University has not had any member of its community affected by this illness.
