(LEBANON, Ill., March 5) – The McKendree University women's hockey team will open up the Women's Midwest College Hockey (WMCH) Championship tournament against the No. 4 seed University of Minnesota on Friday at 6:00pm. The WMCH Championship is being held at the FSI Shark Tank in St. Louis.
The Bearcats finished the regular season at 14-10-1-1 overall on the season. McKendree hosted the Golden Gophers back on Nov. 1, defeating the visitor by the score of 3-2.
On the season, senior
Alyssa Albee (Brookfield, WI/Brookfield Central) paces the offense with 10 goals, 12 assists, and 22 total points. Senior
Lara Wentz (Bismark, ND/) follows up with 11 goals, nine assists, and 20 points and freshman
Camryn Scully (Prince George, BC, Canada/Prince George Secondary School) tied Wentz for the team lead in goals with 11.
In the crease, sophomore
Naomi Leasck (St. Louis, MO/Lindbergh High School) supports a 7-9-1 overall record, 2.11 goals against average, and .923 save percentage with five shutouts. Freshman
Brittnee Kenny (Richmond, Ontario, Canada/South Carleton High School) has a 6-1 record, 1.33 goals against average, and .921 save percentage with a single shutout.

The Golden Gophers closed the regular season at 13-8 overall. Minnesota is led by Jessica Hagstrom with 13 goals, 11 assists, and 24 points. Erica Lieske is close behind with 10 goals, 13 assists, and 23 points.
In net, Alex Morris and Maddy Koss share time with Morris sporting a 7-6 record, 2.99 goals against average, and .912 save percentage with one shutout. Koss has a 6-2 record, 3.00 goals against average, and .887 save percentage, totaling three shutouts.
