(ADRIAN, Mich. – Mar. 7) – McKendree University No.1 women's wrestling competed in the inaugural Cliff Keen National Collegiate Women's Wrestling Championship (NCWWC) Friday and Saturday afternoon at Adrian College. The Bearcats finished in first place with 191.0 team points and five individual champions.
This was the first national-level tournament and championship in the NCAA for affiliated women's wrestling programs. The Bearcats had five national champions including
Pauline Granados (Rialto, CA/Wilmer Amino Carter High School),
Alexia Ward (Portland, OR/Westview High School),
Emma Bruntil (),
Alexandria Glaude (West Sacramento, CA/Christian Brothers High School) and
Sydnee Kimber (Sitka, AK/Mt Edgecombe High School). In addition, they had two second-place finishes, one fourth-place finish, one fifth-place finish, one sixth-place finish, two seventh-place finishes and one eighth-place finish.

Pauline Granados (Rialto, CA/Wilmer Amino Carter High School) took the first round by a technical fall victory at 3:18 (TF 12-2-) over Alice Todryk of UW-Stevens Point. Granados won by a 9-0 decision over Jennesis Martinez of Colorado Mesa University. In the first-place match, Granados won by a 5-1 decision over Iesha Washington of Emmanuel College. Granados finished first overall and went 3-0 on the tournament.

Carly Valleroy (St. Louis, MO/Mehlville High School) took the first round by pin at 0:49 (4-0) over Lakiesha Sullivan of East Stroudsburg University. Valleroy was defeated by technical fall at 2:30 (TF 10-0) to Emily Shilson of Augsburg University. Valleroy was defeated in a 15-6 decision to Allicia Mahoe of Schreiner University. Valleroy did not place in the tournament and went 1-2 on the tournament.

Natalie Reyna (Hesperia, CA/Whittier High School) took the first round by a technical fall victory at 4:23 (TF 10-0) over Clare Garcia of Emmanuel College. Reyna won by pin at 5:10 (12-4) over Angela LoRusso of Adrian College. Reyna was defeated by technical fall at 1:42 (TF 12-2) to Sugey Ceja of Tiffin University. Reyna won by an 8-0 decision over Cassy Lopez of Presbyterian College. Reyna was defeated in a 9-2 decision to Tatyanna Ortiz of East Stroudsburg University. In the seventh-place match, Reyna won by technical fall at 5:31 (10-0) over Allicia Mahoe of Schreiner University. Reyna finished seventh overall and went 4-2 on the tournament.

Taylor won by pin at 4:20 (4-2) over Jaslynn Gallegos of Presbyterian College. In the first-place match, Taylor was defeated by a 7-0 decision to Karla Godinez Gonzalez of Simon Fraser University. Taylor finished second overall and went 2-1 on the tournament.

Rankin was defeated by a 7-2 decision to Asia Nguyen-Smith of North Central College. In the seventh-place match, Rankin won by injury fall over teammate Stroud. Rankin finished seventh overall and went 3-2 on the tournament.

Shaina Murray (Watchung, NJ/Wyoming Seminary Prep) was defeated in the first round by pin at 1:53 (7-2) to Sierra Brown Ton of Colorado Mesa University. Murray won by technical fall at 0:50 (TF 10-0) over Christianna Joy Bush of MacMurray College. Murray won by technical fall at 2:02 (TF 10-0) over Destiny Benjamin of Ferrum College. Murray was defeated by technical fall at 0:31 (TF 10-0) to Nicole Depa of Simon Fraser University. Murray did not place in the tournament and went 2-2 on the tournament.

Kimber finished first overall and went 3-0 on the tournament.
This tournament concluded the 2019-20 season for the Bearcats. They finished 4-0 in the regular season and first-ever NCWWC champions in the postseason. Up next on the schedule for the qualifying Bearcats, the 2020 Olympic Team Trials that will be held April 4-5, in University Park, Penn.
