(O'FALLON, IL, Jan. 15) – The McKendree University swimming and diving team hosted Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) member University of Indianapolis on Friday afternoon.
The men just barely fell 141-144 and the women were defeated 69-198.
To open the meet, the men won the 200 medley relay with a team comprised of
DaVante Carey (Nassau, Bahamas/Queens College),
Henrik Dahrendorff (Beckum, Germany/SC Magdeburg),
Taras Zherebetskyy (Alghero, Sardegna, Italy/ITS "Angelo Roth"), and
Gregg Lichinsky (West Des Moines, IA/West Des Moines Valley High School) with a time of 1:31.11.
Sophomore
Fabio Dalu posted wins in the 500 and 1000 yard freestyle, posting times of 4:33.87 and 9:19.20 respectively.
Carey also won an individual event in the 100 backstroke with a time of 51.39.
In the 100 and 200 breaststroke, transfer
Henrik Dahrendorff (Beckum, Germany/SC Magdeburg) captured first place finishes with times of 56.36 and 2:05.40.
Senior
Victoria Sananikone (Cedar Park, TX/Cedar Park High School) touched the wall first in the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:00.83.
The Bearcats will be on the road tomorrow, Saturday Jan. 16
th, to compete against GLVC member Lindenwood University.
