(LEBANON, Ill. – Jan. 19) – The McKendree University women's basketball will stay on the road for their next two scheduled contests. The Bearcats will be in Springfield, Ill., on Thursday, Jan. 21 and at Quincy, Ill., on Saturday, Jan. 23.
Kari Kerkoff's team enters this weekend with a 4-6 (4-6 in GLVC) record after defeating University of Indianapolis, 76-63 on Jan. 14. Their second-half momentum was sparked by
Kaelyn Froebe's (Lincoln, IL/Lincoln) back-to-back three pointers to keep them within a basket to the Greyhounds. From there, the Bearcats dominated the third quarter in all categories. The Bearcats are averaging 41.6 percent from the paint and 32.2 percent from beyond the arc, for an average 65.2 points per game.
About University of Illinois-Springfield
University of Illinois-Springfield has 4-4 (4-4 in GLVC) record. They will take on University of Indianapolis on Tuesday evening before hosting the Bearcats on Thursday. in their latest game on Jan. 16, the Prairie Stas fell to University of Missouri-St. Louis, 56-85. They started the game off strong, leading by one after the first quarter, and starting the second quarter on a 9-2 point run. Missouri-St. Louis would dominate the remainder of the game after a 20-3 run and scoring 48 points in the second half.
About Quincy University
Quincy currently sits at an 0-10 (0-9 in GLVC) record. They will host the University of Missouri-St. Louis on Thursday before facing the Bearcats on Saturday. In their 51-80 loss to Maryville on Jan.18, Quincy came within six points and closed their deficit to as much as one, mid-way through the second quarter. Maryville would respond with a 17-7 run to close out the first half.
