LEBANON, Ill. - McKendree University women's soccer claimed the lead in the Great Lakes Valley Conference behind a 3-0 victory over Lindenwood on Friday evening. The Bearcats added three points to their fall total with the win, taking the lead in the GLVC with 26 points!
McKendree took its eighth with of the season in a stunning fashion, scoring two first half goals enroute to the win. The Bearcats narrowly took an advantage in corner kicks with four to the Lions' three but held the shot advantage by broad margins. McKendree fired a total of 15 shots with six on-frame while the Lions only recorded three shots in the match overall.
A third goal of the fall was fired by senior midfielder
Riley Ross in the 19th minute, which ended with game-winner status. The goal by Ross was assisted on by freshman defender
Kathleen Kenny via a long free kick, which Ross collected and fired into the lower left corner for the score. Kenny's assist marked her fourth of the fall.
In the 35th minute of action, the Bearcats added their first insurance score of the match with sophomore midfielder

Morgan Cervera. It marked Spotanski's fourth score of the season, which is tied for second on McKendree, while Cervera collected her third assist this fall.
The first half was a showing of offensive prowess by the Bearcats, holding the ball in the attacking half for 70 percent of possession. McKendree owned the first half overall with 56 percent of possession and nine shots while the Lions did not get a shot off in the first 45 minutes.

Anna Stiffler collecting her team-leading sixth goal of the fall. The score was off a cross by the defender Kenny, which bounced through to Stiffler, who fired it past the opposing keeper. Kenny tied the McKendree assist leader Stiffler at five total with her two dish-outs in the victory.

McKendree took over the lead in the GLVC with its win against Lindenwood, totaling 26 points in the fall so far.
Senior midfielder
Riley Ross fired her second game-winner of the fall in the victory over the Lions. It marked her third goal of the season.
Freshman defender
Kathleen Kenny dished-out two assists in the victory, moving her into a tie with Stiffler as the McKendree assist leader.
Sophomore midfielder
Katie Spotanski scored her fourth goal of the year while sophomore midfielder Anna Stiller fired her sixth. Both goals marked insurance scores for the Bearcats in the victory over the Lions.
Senior goalkeeper
Mercedes King earned her fourth clean sheet of the fall and her seventh win this season. King now owns a record of 7-1-2 on the fall.
