LEBANON, Ill. - McKendree University men's soccer wons its fourt-straight match while extending its unbeaten streak to five games with its win over the opposing Southwest Baptist Bearcats, 3-1, on Friday evening. Two Bearcats scored while three recorded an assist in the victory at the home pitch, Leemon Field.
Despite a nearly immediate score from Southwest Baptist, McKendree prevailed behind a second-half effort unmatched by the visiting Bearcats. Senior forward
Gonzalo Correa added two goals in the victory, with both the equalizer and the insurance scores. Correa's game-tying score came in the 50th minute of the match, evening the contest after more than 49 minutes of a Southwest Baptist lead. He later fired another score past the opposition off a pass from freshman midfielder Philipp Schmdt which marked the insurance goal for the Bearcats.
The game-winner for McKendree came in the 59th minute of the contest from senior midfielder
Diego Tapia-Fraites. Tapia-Fraites collected his second goal of the year in the outing, with help from senior forward
James Stone, who recorded his first assist of the fall.
Correa ranks second on McKendree with a total of nine points after his two-score outing against Southwest Baptist. The forward now has recorded at least one point in four of five matches during the Bearcats' unbeaten streak. Tapia-Fraites totals five points on the year with his game-winning goal.
Outside of the early-match goal from Southwest Baptist,senior goalkeeper
Alvaro Cortazar kept a clean sheet through the latter part of the match with two saves. It was Cortazar's fifth win on the fall season as he has recorded full time (998:50) in the net for McKendree.

McKendree won its fourth-straight match in the victory over Southwest Baptist while also extending its unbeaten streak to five matches. The streak dates back to a draw with QUincy on September 24.
Senior forward
Gonzalo Correa fired two scores against the opposing Southwest Baptist Bearcats, marking his third and fourth goals of the year as well as the equalizer and the insurance goals of the match. Correa owns nine points on the fall, which ranks second on McKendree.
Senior midfielder
Diego Tapia-Fraites scored the game-winner in the win over Southwest Baptist. It marked his first GW this fall and his second goal of the season.
Senior keeper
Alvaro Cortazar earned his fifth win of the year while recording another full match to his sheet this fall. Cortazar owns full time in the net for the Bearcats this season with 999 minutes so far.
