LEBANON, Ill. - McKendree University's women's volleyball team battled hard before falling in three sets on senior day to the University of Illinois-Springfield.
The Bearcats struggled on offense as they had a .096 hitting percentage in the loss against Prairie Stars. The offense was led by senior outside hitter (Anthem, Ariz./Boulder Creek), junior outside hitter Maddie Misner (Makanda, Ill./Carbondale) and redshirt sophomore outside hitter Avery Carr (Bloomington, Ill./Bloomington) as they each recorded eight kills apiece and 24 of the 32 kills McKendree recorded as a team. Freshman setter Catie Shane (Evansville, Ind./Francis J. Reitz) assisted on 22 of McKendree's 32 kills.
On the defensive side the Bearcats recorded 61 digs led by Shane with her team-high 15 digs to record her second career double-double. Sophomore outside hitter Brianna Binder (Littleton, Colo./Dakota Ridge) recorded 10 digs along with Misner and freshman libero Keely Davis (Terre Haute, Ind./Terre Haute North Vigo). Sophomore outside/opposite side hitter Colleen Preusser (St. Charles, Mo./Lutheran) added nine digs.
Illinois-Springfield was led by Angela Denney as she recorded a game-high of 15 kills while adding eight digs. Amanda McConnell had a game-high 20 digs against the Bearcats.
The Bearcats wrapped up their season today finishing with an 8-20 record and going 4-13 in Great Lakes Valley Conference play.
