KENOSHA, Wis. – The No. 2 ranked McKendree University women's bowling team went a perfect 5-0 in their five sets of five-game Baker matches on Friday at the first day of the MOTIV Ladyjacks Hammer Classic held at Sheridan Lanes. With a pinfall of 5.248, the Bearcats finished the first day of competition in first place overall.
On Friday, the Bearcats opened with a 980-906 win over 15th-ranked Maryville, before picking up a 1,035-1,000 win over 10th-ranked Stephen F. Austin, a 1,102-803 win over Aurora University, a 1,127-941 win over Lewis University and then ended the first day of action with a 1,004-721 win over North Central (Ill.) College.

In Saturday's five traditional matches that begin at 9:35 a.m., the Bearcats will face in order Valparaiso University, fourth-ranked Vanderbilt University, top-ranked University of Nebraska and 11th-ranked Duquesne University. A fifth traditional match with Upper Iowa University was canceled due to UIU not having enough players and the Bearcats will have a bye for that match.

In addition to McKendree going 5-0 on Friday, Vanderbilt, Nebraska and 21st-ranked Wisconsin-Whitewater each went 4-1, while third-ranked Arkansas State, seventh-ranked Youngstown State, Stephen F. Austin, Lewis University and 24th-ranked Marian (Wis.) each went 3-2.

Results from Friday and Saturday will determine the seeding for Sunday's bracket play championship. During the championship tournament on Sunday, each team will play three rounds of best-of-seven Baker matches beginning at 8:30 a.m.
