The McKendree Bearcats women's basketball team scored a season-high 86 points in a senior day win over the Missouri S&T Miners. The Bearcats were victorious 86-81 on Saturday afternoon in Lebanon, Ill.
How it Happened
The Bearcats jumped out to a hot start in the first quarter outscoring the Miners 26-15. In the opening quarter, the Bearcats shot the lights out making over 57 percent of their shots from the floor including 4-for-6 from three. McKendree cooled down in the second quarter but were still able to head into the locker room with a 12-point lead. McKendree started the second half much like the first. The home team pushed the lead all the way up to 14 with just over five minutes to play in the third quarter. But unfortunately for the Bearcats, the Miners did not go down easily. Missouri S&T would chip away at the lead and get it all the way down to two-points with 16 second left. But that was as close as they would get as
Sydney Diekhoff (Pekin, IL/Pekin Community) made 3-of-4 free throws down the stretch to seal the game.
