(St. Charles, MO-Feb.20)- The McKendree University women's basketball team fell to 8-13 following a loss to Lindenwood by a score of 75-73
How It Happened:
The Bearcats had an efficient first half, shooting 59 percent from the field on 16-of-27 shooting which helped give the Bearcats a nine-point lead going into the half. The Bearcats showed the same level of efficiently from deep, converting on five-of-10 attempts. Junior guard
Sydney Diekhoff (Pekin, IL/Pekin Community) continued her hot shooting, finish the half with 14 points while shooting a perfect four-for-four from the field, as well as two-for-two from deep. Freshman guard
Christy Fortune (Appleton, WI/Appleton West) finished the half with 11 points on four-of-seven shooting and hitting two deep balls on four attempts.
In the third quarter, Lindenwood brought the game within two when they went on eight-zero run from 8:22 to 5:24, during which the Lions went three-for-four from the field. The fourth quarter was a close fought battle. With just over four minutes left, freshman guard
Lauren Stolzman (Husdon, WI/Hudson) hits a lay-up tie the game up at 69. The Lions and Bearcats traded baskets up until the final seconds when Diekhoff missed a game tying three as time expired.
