The McKendree University women's volleyball team concluded another Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Triangular Saturday evening, facing Lindenwood. The Bearcats took the opening set 25-18 but fell in the next three (19-25, 22-25, 15-25) to drop the contest to the Lions.
McKendree brought the same energy and dominating net presence from the Missouri S&T matchup into its game with Lindenwood. The Bearcats finished the first set with a .324 hitting percentage and 15 kills, to take the first set 25-18.
Lindenwood started the second set with the momentum on its side, building up to a seven-point lead halfway through the second set. The Bearcats would work their way within four, but the Lions would hold on for the 25-19 win.
Lindenwood's big block became problematic for the McKendree's offense in the third set. The Bearcats would be limited to a .091 hitting percentage and were out-blocked 5-0. The Bearcats would drop the third set 25-22.
McKendree found a better groove in the fourth set, attacking the ball more, but coming up short. Unforced errors would be the downfall for the Bearcats, as the Lions would take the final set 25-15 and the match 3-1.
McKendree finished the night with a .163 hitting percentage and 49 kills.
Brianna Binder (Littleton, CO/Dakota Ridge) led the offense with 15 kills, and also added in 11 digs.
Alex Tinnin (Festus, MO/Festus) recorded three service aces for her team. Both
Sarah Porter (Glfford, IL/Armstrong Township) and
Maddie Misner (Makanda, IL/Carbondale) had two blocks in the match. Misner would add 14 kills and one assist. Gracie Mar recorded 41 assists, along with 11 digs.
Amanda Tippett (Forestill, MO/St. Dominic) led the defense with 14 digs, along with three assists.
With the loss the Bearcats drop to 3-5 on the season.
Nickie Sanlin's team will continue on the road for its next schedules GLVC Triangular, on Saturday, March 6. McKendree will face Southwest Baptist University and Maryville on Saturday, March 6, in the Meyer Sports Center.
