The McKendree University men's tennis team defeated the University of Missouri-St Louis by a score of 5-2 on Saturday in St Louis.

The Bearcats secured the matches doubles point behind wins from freshman Subash Paramasivan (Chennai, Tamil Nadu India/SARASWATHI KENDRA) and junior Vishnu Prasad (Chennai, India/National Institute of Open Schooling) at first singles by a score of 6-1 and sophomore Leonardo Frederico (Tijucas-Santa Cantrina, Brazil/Colégio de Aplicação Univali) and sophomore Ryan Fung (Miami, Fl/Miami Palmetto Senior High) secured the other doubles victory at two doubles by a score of 6-4.

Singles play saw the Bearcats continue their strong play. Frederico picked up a win at second singles by a score of 6-2, 6-1. Paramasivan followed suit with a three-set victory at third singles by a final score of 4-6, 7-6, 7-6. Freshman Julappagari Anurag Reddy (Dubai, UAE) would clinch the match for the Bearcats at fourth singles by a final score of 6-2 ,6-2.

"I'm very happy with our performance today. The whole team played very well and put good effort. This win will help us for the next matches," said Frederico on today's match. "I'm proud of everyone. We will keep working hard because this is just the beginning."
 
McKendree returns to the court on March 27 when they take on Missouri Valley College in Marshall, Mo.
