The McKendree women's tennis team captured its second win of the season on Sunday following a 6-1 victory over Rockhurst.
The Bearcats started off strong capturing the doubles point by picking up wins at second and third doubles.
Second doubles saw graduate student
Sara Kalkenova and sophomore
Mariana Caicedo Mora take a 6-2 victory. The third doubles team of freshman duo of
Rhyan Cook and
Emily Kettering notched a 6-1 victory.
Singles play saw the Bearcats pick up four wins. Sophomore
Viola Cipriani earned a victory at second singles 7-6 (5), 6-0. Third singles saw Kalkenova dominate in a 6-2, 6-0 victory.
Freshman
Camilla Fonseca and
Rhyan Cook rounded out the Bearcats singles wins, winning 6-3, 6-3, and 6-2, 6-2, respectively.
"The early mornings and the hard work are beginning to pay off for our women's team. We're excited about how we're uniting and executing on the court," said head coach René Vidal following today's match.
The Bearcats will look to keep the momentum going when they return to the court on April 3 when they travel to University of Southern Illinois.
