The McKendree University baseball team emerged victorious over Parkside Friday afternoon by a score of 6-4.

The Bearcats got their bats going early in the contest when junior
Corey Price (Bethalto, IL/Civic Memorial) and senior
Austin Francis (Dupo, IL/Dupo) belted back-to-back solo home runs to give McKendree a 2-0 in the first inning. The Rangers answered in the third inning with a pair of runs to tie the game, but McKendree retake the lead after junior
Joseph Costanzo (Kansas City, MO/Rockhurst) drove in another two runs.
McKendree would strike again in the sixth inning when sophomore
Jayton Cromer (Lebanon, MO/Lebanon) drove in Costanzo to give the Bearcats a 5-2 lead. By the 8
th inning, Parkside had closed the gap to one run, but senior
Lucas Vallandingham (Millstadt, IL/Belleville West) got out of a based loaded jam and got the final three outs in the ninth to earn a four-out save and bring home the victory for the Bearcats.
