The McKendree women's hockey team fell short in a hard fought 3-2 loss to Midland University on Friday night.

Midland opened up the scoring halfway through the first period, but the Bearcats knotted the game just two minutes later.
Jackie Leone (Lake Country, BC, Canada/Kelowna Secondary School) buried the puck in the back of the net after a pass from
Jaynee Smothers (Buckner, MO/Fort Osage) and
Elia Burbidge (Tottenham, Ontario, Canada/The Hill Academy). Both teams remained tied 1-1 after the first.

The Warriors took the lead during the second period, scoring two back-to-back goals. Midland carried the lead 3-1 into the second intermission.
Just barely a minute into the final period, Leone scored her second goal of the night. Smothers and
Paris Suzuki (Covina, CA/Covina High School) were credited with assists. The Bearcats played tough defense but fell short to the Warriors 3-2.

Naomi Leasck (St. Louis, MO/Lindbergh High School) made 29/32 saves in the loss.
