The McKendree University men's tennis team fell to the University of Northwest Missouri State University state by a score of 7-0 On Saturday afternoon in Springfield, Mo. 

The Bearcats would pick up a win in doubles play behind freshman Subash Paramasivan (Chennai, Tamil Nadu India/SARASWATHI KENDRA) and junior Vishnu Prasad (Chennai, India/National Institute of Open Schooling) by a score of 7-6 at one doubles. However, Northwest Missouri State would emerge victorious at both second and third doubles to earn the double point.

In singles play, the Bearcats fought hard down the lineup but could not emerge victorious. Sophomore Leonardo Frederico (Tijucas-Santa Cantrina, Brazil/Colégio de Aplicação Univali) fell in three sets by a final score of 2-6, 6-2, 3-6. Sophomore Ryan Fung (Miami, Fl/Miami Palmetto Senior High) also went to three sets but fell by a final score of 6-2, 4-6, 6-7.

"Northwest Missouri State played a great match and is a bona fide top 25 program. We competed hard at every position and believe this experience will pay off later in the season." Said head coach René Vidal.

The Bearcats will look to bounce back when they return to the court tomorrow when they open their Great Lakes Valley Conference schedule against Drury University.
