The McKendree University women's tennis team was defeated by the No.1 ranked University of Indianapolis Greyhounds on Saturday by a final score of 7-0.
The match began with doubles play but the Greyhounds proved to be too much for the Bearcats, who failed to pick up a win in doubles play. The duo of
Sara Kalkenova and
Mariana Caicedo Mora played the Greyhounds close at two doubles, losing 4-6.
Singles play rolled around, and the Greyhounds gave the Bearcats everything they could handle across all positions. McKendree battled hard but could not secure a win, but sixth singles saw
Emily Kettering play her opponent tight, dropping the match 3-6, 4-6.
The Bearcats will return to the courts on April 13
th when they return to Godfrey, Ill to square off with Lewis and Clark Community College in a match that was originally scheduled for April 7
th.
