The McKendree University women's hockey team played against Midland University on Thursday morning in Game 1 of ACHA Nationals preliminary rounds. Despite all the shots taken, the Bearcats fell to the Warriors by a score of 3-0.
The Warriors scored in each period for the win. The Bearcat defense was spectacular in allowing only three goals despite the 43 shots from Midland.
Quinn Atchison hit the post on a partial breakaway during the first period which would have given the Bearcats an edge for the reminder of the game.

In the net, junior goalie
Naomi Leasck made 40/43 saves in the loss.
Â
"I liked the way we started the game, but we needed to keep that up for longer stretches," said head coach
Derek Pallardy. "I can't really ask much more of our players though. With a roster of only twelve, they're constantly being pushed to their limits and they never quit."
Â
Next up, McKendree will play Liberty University tomorrow (Friday) at 4:00pm for Game 2 of the preliminaries.
