Rulo Arteaga scored the game-winning goal in the first overtime period as the McKendree University men's soccer team defeated Lindenwood 1-0 on Saturday night in St. Charles, Mo. 
 
How It Happened
McKendree and Lindenwood played a solid defensive game while neither offense could muster a goal. Lindenwood would have an opportunity to win the game in the 89^th minute, but McKendree goalie, Brett Niedzwiecki saved the shot and forced the game into overtime.
 
Just four minutes into overtime Arteaga would send everyone home with a goal to give the Bearcats the huge win. 
 
With the win the Bearcats move to 5-5-2 on the season.

 - The Lions would outshoot the Bearcats 16 to eight on the day.

-  McKendree would tally three shots on goal. 
-  Niedzwiecki started the game in net for the Bearcats. He recorded a career high 10 saves on the day and earned his first shutout of the season.

"We're dealing with a lot of adversity because of injuries to our players, but I do think we played quite well," head coach Scott Gyllenborg said. "We didn't create as many chances as we can, but for us we wanted to go into it with a better work ethic and a better overall team performance compared to Thursday. I think the goal Rulo got is good for him. He deserved it and worked hard for it. But overall, I looked at it as a satisfying performance with a win."
