LEBANON, Ill. - McKendree University women's soccer regained its footing in the Great Lakes Valley Conference after a late-contest goal from sophomore midfielder
Anna Stiffler, which served as her second goal of the year and first game-winner this fall.
The Bearcats improved to 4-1-2 behind the late game heroics by Stiffler, recovering from a tough loss at Leemon Field against UIndy on September 19. The league match was knotted at zeros for the majority of the full time but offense was not sparse. McKendree showed offensive prowess with 23 shots and 12 shots on frame. The Bearcats also owned the corners with seven to the Hawks' one. Stiffler not only recoreded the game-winning score but also led the team in short with six on goal and eight total. Ten different Bearcats sent shots at the opposing net keeper with 15 total shots coming in the second period for McKendree.

Senior goalkeeper
Mercedes King logged her first win of the year and remains unbeaten with a record of 1-0-1. King missed matches following an injury in the second match of the fall, this was her first action since the Missouri S&T match on 9/5/21. THe back line for McKendree was essential to holding the visiting Hawks in check as Quincy only got five shots off with none being on goal.
NOTES:
- The Bearcats evened the all-time series with Quincy at 6-6-2 and recorded back-to-back wins over the Hawks.

Mercedes King (Troy, Illinois) earned her first win of the season and remained unbeaten. This was her first action since injury in the Missorui S&T non-conference match on 9/5/2021
- Sophomore midfielder
Anna Stiffler (O'Fallon, Missouri) scored her second goal of the season and first game-winner of the fall to beat Quincy in the 89th minute. She is second on McKendree in points with five total.
- 10 players recorded at least one shot for McKendree with Stiffler firing eight of the 23 total Bearcat shots and six of the 12 total on-frame McKendree shots.
- McKendree owned the possession advantage 54% to 46% over the Hawks and a corner advantage of seven to one, while also out-shooting Quincy by 18 shots.
