Bearcats Men's Volleyball Falls to Lincoln Memorial in Four Sets

HARROGATE, Tenn. - McKendree University men's volleyball fell to 2-3 on the season after falling in four sets at Mary Mars Gymnasium Saturday afternoon against Lincoln Memorial University. 

Lincoln Memorial took the first set 25-22, the second set belonged to the Bearcats 25-18, set three would go to LMU 25-17 and the Railsplitters were take the fourth set 25-15. 

The two biggest factors in the match were LMU's ability to block as they recorded 18 total team blocks and hit .316 for the match while McKendree recorded four total blocks and hit .212 for the match. 

Offensively, the Bearcats were led by graduate student outside hitter Ethan Carroll (Barrington, Ill./Barrington) as he recorded 14 kills for the match. Graduate student outside hitter Patrick Ross (Anthem, Ariz./Boulder Creek) added 12 kills. Redshirt senior setter Ryan Serrano (Phoenix, Ariz./Boulder Creek) recorded 39 assists in the match. 

Defensively, the Bearcats were led by senior libero Francisco Comas (Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley) who recorded a season-high 10 digs. Ross added six digs and three block assists. Freshman outside hitter Kevin Schuele (Aurora, Ill./Saint Francis) added five digs in the match. 

Lincoln Memorial was led by Cole Campisano and Johansen Negron. Campisano had a game-high of 17 kills and Negron added nine kills for the Railsplitters. With the win the Railsplitters improve to 4-0 on the season.

The Bearcats return to action on Friday, Feb. 4 at 7 p.m. at the Melvin Price Convocation Center against Maryville. The match with Maryville will be the first of a three match homestand that features matches against Maryville, Ohio State and Ball State.
