ARLINGTON, Texas – The McKendree University women's bowling moved up two spots to fourth place here Saturday after the second day of the 11th-Annual Prairie View Invitational held at the ITRC Arlington.
After going 3-2 in Friday's Baker games, the No. 2 ranked Bearcats posted a 3-2 record in Saturday's five traditional games to sit in fourth place with a 6-4 record following two days of the three-day event. The Bearcats have recorded a total pinfall of 10,062 and is averaging 201.2 per game.
McKendree is one of five teams that have recorded over 10,000 pins through the first two days as No. 5 ranked Vanderbilt sit atop the team leaderboard with a 7-3 record and a total pinfall of 10,311 for an average of 206.2 per game.
No. 3 ranked Nebraska is second with a 7-3 record and a total pinfall of 10,203 for an average of 204.1 per game and No. 1 ranked Sam Houston is also 7-3 and sit third overall with a pinfall total of 10,202 and an average of 204.0 per game. No. 4 ranked North Carolina A&T is fifth with a 5-5 record and a total pinfall of 10,025 and an average of 200.5 per game.
The Bearcats opened the traditional games on Saturday with a strong win over No. 15 Fairleigh Dickinson by a score of 1,024-952. The Bearcats would drop a six-pin decision in its second game against No. 7 Louisiana Tech (940-934) and then fell in its third game to Vanderbilt (1,062-952). McKendree would then conclude the second day with back-to-back wins against Sam Houston (1,109-1,009) and Prairie View A&M (1,030-874).
Senior Hope Gramly (Prosper, Texas) leads the Bearcats in the individual standings as she sits in seventh place with a total pinfall of 1,081 and an average of 216.20 per game. Gramly had 200 or better in three of the five games with a high of 259 in the first game against Fairleigh Dickinson.
In addition to Gramly, junior Rebecca Hagerman (Loves Park, Ill./Harlem) is in 12th place with a total pinfall of 1,060 and an average of 212.0 per game. She had four games of over 200, including a high of 228 against Sam Houston, while junior Maranda Pattison (Redwood Valley, Calif./Ukiah Independent) is 19th overall with a total pinfall of 832 in four games and averaged 208 per game and had 200 in two games, including a high of 234 against Prairie View A&M.
McKendree will conclude traditional play with an 8:25 a.m. match against No. 6 Arkansas State, before entering the bracket play tournament to determine the tournament champion.
