O'FALLON, Ill. - McKendree University women's hockey (5-4-1, 1-4-1 WMCH) swept Concordia Ann Arbor over the weekend after dropping its Friday matchup with Maryville. The Bearcats came back in the Saturday afternoon battle with the Cardinals, winning 4-3, and then handled CUAA in the Sunday bout, 4-1.

McKendree was unable to up-end the Saints on Friday before returning to its home ice, dropping the contest, 3-1. Maryville struck first with a goal in the first period. The Bearcats came back to knot up the game in the second with sophomore forward

The Bearcats looked for a bounce-back after the Friday night defeat as Concordia came to the McKendree Metro Rec Plex looking to knock off the Bearcats. McKendree went down in the first period with two goals by the visitor with one score by sophomore forward
Isobelle Hobbs off a dish-out by fellow freshman forward Larisa Gorgevske-Sharpe.
The Cardinals went up with another score in the sixth minute of the second period. The Bearcats tacked on a second goal in the game half-way through period two by freshman forward
Janaya Laqua as sophomore defender
Lainy Stienstra got the assist. Period two ended with CUAA up, 3-2.
The third and final period featured senior center
Camryn Scully firing two goals against the Cardinals to win the battle. Scully's game-tying goal was fired in the eighth minute with sophomore defender
Ashley Hayley dishing-out the assist. The game-winning score was then fired by the senior center in the 18th minute of the period with Gorgevska-Sharpe and Stienstra collecting assists.

Brianna Burke held the net in full time for the Bearcats, grabbing 13 saves in the game.

Game 3 | vs CUAA | November 12
The first period led to a null game with CUAA leading 12-11 in shots on goal. In the second period, McKendree more than doubled the Cardinals' shots with 11 on frame. CUAA struck first with a score in the 15th minute to take a 1-0 lead. The Bearcats came back with a goal in the 19th minute by senior wing

Aria Groot collected assists. The second period ended with a 1-1 knot.
The third period was all Bearcats with three scores to lock up a victory for the host. Sophomore forward
Brittney Kambeitz fired the first goal and the eventual game-winner in the fifth minute of play off a dish-out by Hobbs and freshman forward
Cricket Colebank. less than two minutes later, Gorgevska-Sharpe sent an insurance score to the back of the net with assists going to freshman defender
Brooke Lannon and junior forward
Jaynee Smothers.
The final goal of the weekend and second insurance score was fired by freshman forward
Jayna Barnden who was assisted by Scully and Groot.
The net was held by freshman
