LEXINGTON, Ky. - After taking down then ranked No. 12 Ohio State and going 1-1 last week to sit at 4-4 on the season and 1-1 in Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association play the Bearcats men's volleyball team received four votes in the latest AVCA Division I-II poll.
The Bearcats win over Ohio State was the third consecutive win for the Bearcats over the Buckeyes dating back to last season. It was also the sixth consecutive season the Bearcats started MIVA play with a win.
Long Beach State (7-1) remains No. 1 after receiving 285 points and all 19 first place votes, UCLA (7-2) remains No. 2 after receiving 262 points and the defending National Champion Rainbow Warriors of Hawaii remain in the No. 3 spot after receiving 243 points.
So far this season, McKendree has played two non-conference matches against nationally ranked teams as they opened the 2022 season with back-to-back four-set losses at then ninth-ranked Grand Canyon and will play two home non-conference matches with No. 8 Pepperdine on March 4-5 and will host No. 15 Lincoln Memorial on March 12 as part of the Lindenwood Invitational.
The MIVA is well represented in this week's AVCA Top 15 poll as three of the leagues' teams are nationally ranked headlined by Ball State at No. 7, followed by Lewis at No. 9, and Ohio State remains in the poll at No. 14 after falling twice last week
The Bearcats head to Quincy on Wednesday night for a 7 p.m. matchup with the Hawks before heading to Lindenwood on Saturday with a 4 p.m. matchup against the Lions.
