TOWN & COUNTRY. Mo. - McKendree University women's lacrosse scored 19 goals here Sunday afternoon en route to earning a non-conference victory over Maryville University as the MU Lacrosse Field.
The win was the first of the season of the Bearcats and improved its record to 1-2 on the year, while Maryville fell to 1-1 on the year.

Kat Albrecht (Louisville, Ky./Eastern) and
Sydney Tiemann (Eureka, Mo./Eureka) combined for 11 goals, while graduate student midfielder
Oriana Johnson (Monticello, Minn./Monticello) added two goals and two assists in the win. In addition to Albrecht, Tiemann and Johnson, the other Bearcats that found the net on Sunday were sophomore attacker

Clara Andrews (St. Louis, Mo./Nerinx Hall) earned the win between the pipes for McKendree as she allowed nine goals and made 11 saves in the effort.
Maryville got four of its nine goals from Jessica Hynes, while five other Saints scored a goal in the loss. Jo Miles took the loss in goal for the Saints as she allowed 19 goals and made seven stops.
Maryville would score the first goal of the game just 76 seconds into the contest as Jolie Skyler found the goal to give Maryville a 1-0 lead.
Aly Curran, though, would put the Bearcats on the board as she scored on a free position shot nearly three minutes into the game and a little over two minutes later Albrecht gave the Bearcats a 2-1 lead on her first goal of the game.
MU, though, would score four of the next five goals to hold a 5-3 lead after the first period.
In the second period, the Bearcats would outscore the Saints, 7-3. to take a 10-8 lead at the half. The Bearcats closed the quarter by scoring five consecutive goals, including taking a 9-8 lead following an unassisted goal by Sugarman with 2:35 left in the quarter. Albrecht would add her third goal of the game a little more than a minute later on a free position shot to give the Bearcats its 10-8 halftime lead.
McKendree kept up the scoring in the third quarter as they opened the frame with four straight goals, including two by Tiemann to push in front 14-8. Olivia Sardina would stop the Bearcats scoring run with a goal off an assist from Reagan Rukstad to cut McKendree's lead to 14-9 with 10 seconds left in the quarter. That gave the Bearcats one more chance to score in the quarter and Tiemann would add her third goal of the quarter right before the buzzer to give the Bearcats a 15-9 lead heading into the fourth period.
Tiemann would open the fourth quarter with back-to-back goals in the opening three-plus minutes of the quarter to push McKendee's lead to 17-9 and then Albrecht would add two more goals in the quarter to cap the scoring.
The Bearcats held a 33-28 edge in shots as Albrecht took 10 shots, while Tiemann added nine shots and Johnson recorded six shots.
Maryville won the ground ball battle, 25-20 and also held a slight 17-14 edge on draw controls with Tiemann recording a game-high eight. Jolie and Ronnie Skorcz each had six draw controls for the Saints.
The Bearcats were 3-for-7 on their free position shot chances, while Maryville went 0-for-4 on free position shots.
McKendree, who improved to 5-0 all-time against Maryville in women's lacrosse, will return to action next Sunday, March 6 as they host 14th-ranked Grand Valley State in an 11 a.m. game at Leemon Field on the McKendree campus.
