Bearcats Men's Volleyball Opens Lindenwood Invite with Sweep of Limestone

ST. CHARLES, Mo. - McKendree University men's volleyball picked up a hard fought 3-0 win over Limestone University to open the 2022 Lindenwood Invitational on Friday afternoon at Hyland Arena on the campus of Lindenwood University. 

With the win the 14th ranked Bearcats improved to 9-6 on the season while Limestone falls to 12-5 on the season. 

The Bearcats recorded a .275 hitting percentage compared to the Saints .205 hitting percentage in the match. The Saints had 13 service errors whereas the Bearcats had seven service errors. 

Offensively, the Bearcats were led by graduate student outside hitter Patrick Ross (Anthem, Ariz./Boulder Creek) as Ross recorded a team-high 14 kills on a .379 hitting percentage. Graduate student outside hitter Ethan Carroll (Barrington, Ill./Barrington) as Carroll added 11 kills in the sweep of the Saints. Ross and freshman outside hitter Kevin Schuele (Aurora, Ill./Saint Francis) recorded two serve aces a piece. 

Schuele led the Bearcats with a career-high 10 digs in the match while Ross added six digs in the match. Redshirt senior setter Ryan Serrano (Phoenix, Ariz./Boulder Creek) recorded a solo block and three block assists. Redshirt junior middle blocker Jacob Gall (Fairview Heights, Ill./Althoff Catholic) added two block assists. 

Limestone was led by Geraldo Rivera as he had a game-high 16 kills for the Saints while James Chretien added seven kills. Matt Anetrella added nine digs while Sean Boyle added four digs. 

The Bearcats return to action on Saturday, March 12 for the second day of the Lindenwood Invite as the Bearcats get their rematch with Lincoln Memorial at 2 p.m. at the Melvin Price Convocation Center.
