OAKLAND, Calif. – For the second time this season, McKendree University women's water polo graduate student
Jaleh Moaddeli (Newport Beach, Calif./GWU) has been named this week's Western Water Polo Association (WWPA) Player of the Week as announced by the conference office earlier this week.
Moaddeli, who was also honored by the league on Feb. 23, earns this week's WWPA Player of the Week accolade after leading the Bearcats to a 2-1 mark at last weekend's WWPA Conference Weekend hosted by Gannon (Pa.) University.
In the three games last weekend, Moaddeli scored 13 goals, tallied five assists, and went a perfect 10-0 in all sprints. In addition, she added seven steals and drew two exclusions. Moaddeli tallied seven goals and three assists in a 20-7 win over Mercyhurst, before recording hat tricks in a 13-12 loss to Salem (W.Va.) and a 14-11 win over Gannon (Pa.).
Moaddeli has scored a total of 21 goals and has added nine assists in eight games this season. In addition, she has taken 29 shots and has collected 11 steals and is 13-for-14 in sprints on the year.
The Bearcats, who are sporting a 15-5 overall record and finished second in the WWPA East Division with a 4-2 record, and Moaddeli return to action next Friday, April 22 as they face the No. 3 seed from the West Division in the 2022 WWPA Women's Championship, which will be hosted by Fresno Pacific and held at the Fresno State Athletics Aquatic Center in Fresno, Calif.
