LEBANON, Ill. – McKendree University anglers
Tyler Christy (Bolingbrook, Ill./Bolingbrook) and
Trey Schroeder (Crestwood, Mo./Lindbergh) will compete in the bracket round of the Bassmaster National Championship this weekend on Greenwood Lake in Greenwood, S.C.
Eight anglers are set to participate in the bracket starting on Saturday, Oct. 1. The winner of the single-elimination bracket will earn a bid to the biggest bass tournament in the country, the Bassmaster Classic.
This is not an unfamiliar place for the two Bearcats as Schroeder and Christy reached the bracket round of the tournament during their freshmen year.
McKendree had two representatives in the bracket round in 2020 as Blake Jackson and Trevor McKinney fished their way to the final day of the Championships. McKinney was ultimately deemed College Classic Bracket Champion and earned a ticket to the Bassmaster Classic during that year.
The eight participants will begin the tournament on Saturday, Oct. 1 and will continue on Sunday, Oct. 2 with the final four anglers. These two days will be covered live by Fox Sports 1 from 7 a.m.- 11 a.m. CST. The two finalists will face off on Monday when the winner will be crowned that afternoon. The final day coverage will be broadcasted on the Bassmaster Website.
Dates and times are subject to change due to Hurricane Ian that is currently battering the southeastern United States.
