Bearcats win fourth-straight dual, face Ouachita Baptist on Monday

LEBANON, Ill. - No.12 McKendree University men's wrestling (6-3, 1-0 GLVC) collected a fourth-straight dual victory on Friday night with a non-conference, home win against the Roughnecks of Findlay, 29-6. Three Bearcats added three bonus-point matches with 133 redshirt junior Ryan Ripplinger, 141 sophomore Joey Semerad, and 174 redshirt freshman Zeke Waltz, all earning extra point wins. McKendree hosts a Great Lakes Valley Conference dual at home on Monday, January 16, against Ouachita Baptist at 7 PM.

NOTES
Sophomore 141 Joey Semerad (5-7) earned his first major decision of the season with the 18-6 victory. It marked the first of three extra-point matches in the dual for McKendree.

Redshirt freshman 174 Zeke Waltz improved to 19-8 on the year while collecting his fifth major decision win of 2022-23.

Senior 184 Josh Jones (19-7) nearly captured another major on the day but narrowly fell out of the criteria, still earning a 9-5 decision is his matchup.

Waltz (174) and Jones (184) now sit atop their squad for wins this season as both own 19 thus far. Both have five major decisions and two pins while Jones owns eight decisions while Waltz has five.

Redshirt sophomore 197 Logan Kvien earned a decision victory, 1-0, to take his match, which improved him to 13-6 this year. Kvien is tied for the Bearcat lead in fall victories with Ripplinger (133) at four each.
