McKendree men's swim and dive team snagged their second victory in two days, breaking seven pool records in the process. With a final score of 185-111, McKendree collected another dominant dual win over No. 7-ranked Washington University in St. Louis.
The Bearcats won 10 out of 14 swim events, including both relay events. In four of those 10 wins, McKendree finished first and second.
McKendree's 'A' team broke pool records in both relay events. Sophomore Patryk Rozenek, junior Filipe Pinheiro, sophomore Lustig and senior Gregg Lichinsky combined to clock in at 3:21.95 in the 400 medley relay, while senior Caleb Law, Lichinsky, sophomore Arthur Souza and sophomore Alireza Yavari posted a time of 3:04.17 in the 400 freestyle relay.
Lustig broke a pool record in all four of his races, including one relay and three individuals. He won both the 100 and 200 butterfly (49.25, 1:47.12), and finished his night with a 400 IM win (4:02.51).
Law dominated the sprint events, picking up wins in both the 50 freestyle (20.83) and the 100 freestyle (45.43 - pool record).
The last pool record was Rozenek's time of 50.44 in the 100 backstroke.
Freshman Xander McWhorter won both the 1-meter (320.20) and 3-meter diving (303.35), while fellow freshman, Ian Garwold, placed third in the 1-meter (256.45) and second in 3-meter (261.75).
The total combined men's and women's score was 307-285 in favor of the Bearcats.
This coming weekend, McKendree will host University of Missouri-St. Louis on Jan. 20 at 1:30 p.m. as they celebrate Senior Day.
