FORT WAYNE, Ind. - McKendree University men's volleyball junior setter Tyler Poulsen was named the Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association's Defensive Player of the Week as announced by the league office on Tuesday.

Poulsen earns his first career weekly accolade following his performance at Harvard University this past weekend. The Bearcats posted two wins, a four-set victory over St. Francis University and five-set win over Harvard.

Across the two games, Poulsen posted 17 digs, including a season-high 10 against St. Francis. Additionally, Poulsen averaged 0.67 blocks per set with a season-high five blocks against Harvard.

Poulsen's honor is the first for McKendree this season as the last Bearcat to receive a weekly award was sophomore Kevin Schuele, who was named MIVA Offensive Player of the Week on March 29, 2022.

Poulsen and the Bearcats are back at home this week as they host Missouri S&T on Friday at 7 p.m. and Long Island University on Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
