LAS VEGAS, Nev. – McKendree University women's bowling posted a 5-0 record to tab the No. 1-spot in the standings after day one of competition at the Stormin' Blue & White Classic hosted by Mount St. Mary's at the South Point Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nev.
The No. 1-ranked Bearcats won their five Baker matches to kick off the three-day event, recording over 1,000 pins in all five games, including a total of 1,191 in their third match of the day. Through the first day of action, McKendree posted a total pinfall of 5,616 and averaged 224.6 pins per game. McKendree was the only team to win all five games on the opening day of the tournament and leads pinfall totals by 524 pins to second-place Vanderbilt.
On Sunday, McKendree opened with a 1,065-969 win over Texas Southern followed by a 1,132-962 victory over Maryville. Continuing their win streak, the Bearcats won 1,191-1,025 against University of Maryland-Eastern Shore, 1,122-578 against Spalding, and 1,106-856 against Daemen.
McKendree continues play on Tuesday with traditional matches against Nebraska, Prairie View A&M, Mount St. Mary's, Stephen F. Austin, and Newman.
