The Bearcats and Peacocks have never met on the gridiron before. Upper Iowa is the newest member of the Great Lakes Valley Conference. This will be the 69
th opponent in the history of Bearcat football.
Scouting the Bearcats
The Bearcats are still in search of their first win of the season after falling to 0-5 (0-2 GLVC). They fell in a tight contest at Southwest Baptist last week by the score of 24-17. SBU's first quarter of 17 points was too much for McKendree to overcome, despite outscoring SBU in the final three quarters.
The offense is led by redshirt junior wide out Yogi Flager, Jr who leads the conference in receiving TDs (5), receptions per game (8.2) and all-purpose yards (162.4).
Eddie Clark leads the rushing attack with 49 carries for 204 yards. QB
Caleb Fisher has completed 86 of his 141 passes thrown of 728 yards and six touchdowns.
Scouting the Peacocks
The Upper Iowa Peacocks sit at 2-4 (0-2 GLVC) thus far this season. Their two wins have been over NAIA St. Ambrose University on September 9
th and Missouri S&T in a non-conference battle on September 16
th. They currently sit on a three game losing streak including William Jewell and Missouri S&T.
In last week's contest against the Miners, in Rolla, Missouri, UIU struggled and fell 31-6. Darryl Overstreet Jr was 18 for 27 passing with one interception and 167 yards. For the season, Overstreet is 74 of 124 for 877 yards and six touchdowns. His favorite target was Eddie Burgess with 77 yards on 6 receptions. On the ground,
Jayden Mitchell led the way with 13 carries on 60 yards.
Mante Morrow leads the conference in receiving yards with 486 on 35 catches and has found the end zone five times.
