O'FALLON, Ill. | McKendree Metro Rec Plex - McKendree University women's hockey (3-3-0) returned to its home ice with vigor on Friday afternoon, capturing a 4-1 victory over Michigan-Dearborn to grab back-to-back wins. The Bearcats utilized three scorers in its victory as senior forward
Jaynee Smothers collected two goals, including the game winner, while junior forwards
Isobelle Hobbs and
Kiley Hasenfratz each netted one. McKendree heads across the St. Louis metro for games at Lindenwood on Saturday and Sunday.
McKendree popped off with a score in the first two minutes of the game, grabbing a lead and never looking back from that point in its return home. Hobbs tallied the first score at the 18:15 mark of the first period with assists going to freshman forward

Aria Groot. McKendree held a 1-0 lead going into the first intermission period.
The Bearcats went at it early in the second period again with a goal by Smothers in the ninth minute with freshman forward

Janaya Laqua dishing-out the helpers. McKendree had the 2-0 advantage following the second 20 minutes of action.
In the third and final period of Friday's game, McKendree fired two more scores but not before Dearborn added one goal back, momentarily cutting the lead. Smothers added her second goals of the afternoon in the 12th minute with Laqua and senior forward
Larisa Gorgevska-Sharpe adding the assists. McKendree led 3-1 after Smothers' second score. In the closing minutes of the contest, the Bearcats found the back of the net once again as Hasenfratz tallied her fourth of the campaign while freshman forward

Kerstyn Barron each recorded an assist on the goal.
Sophomore
Rachel Staresinic held net in full time for the Bearcats, nabbing 20 saves on the day and collecting the victory.

McKendree will be back on road ice in its next pair of games, taking on Lindenwood on Saturday at 8:30PM and Sunday at 1:30PM in St. Charles.
