LEBANON, Ill. | Leemon Field - McKendree University men's soccer (9-1-6, 7-1-4 GLVC) went for another clean-sheet performance in October on Friday night with a commanding shutout win over Southwest Baptist. The Bearcats put up three second-half goals to secure the victory with sophomore midfielder 
Rhys Davies, junior midfielder 
Philipp Schmidt, and graduate defender 
Michael Hodgson each collecting a score. McKendree plays host to Drury on Sunday, October 29 to close out the regular season.
McKendree went up late in the first half with an SBU own goal, which was created by a heavily hit cross by sophomore midfielder 
Gabe Hallsten. Hallsten fired the ball deep into the 18-yard box to create havoc and the own goal by SBU. McKendree led 1-0 at the half with a lead in shots (18-0) and corners (9-0). 
In the second 45 minutes of action, McKendree pushed equally hard with 15 more shots and eight more corners. The first insurance score was fired in the 47th minute as a corner came into the box off the foot of 
Matteo Schubert. Freshman defender 
Fred Nielsen headed the ball, which richocheted back to the Bearcats. Freshmand midfielder 
Olle Ridelius fired a shot, which was flicked on and in by Davies. Assists on the Davies score came via Nielsen and Ridelius. 
The Bearcats found the back of the net again in the 72nd minute as Schmidt fired his third of the season off a low cross by senior 
Fetiol Hyke. In the 79th, McKendree earned a penalty kick with graduate defender 
Michael Hodgson getting the nod to take the attempt. Hodgson fired his second PK goal of the season to finish scoring for McKendree on the day.
