New this year for the GLVC Sports Network is the conference has moved to a Pay-Per-View model for football, women's volleyball, men's and women's basketball. The game will cost $10. Viewers also have the option to buy an all-sport pass for $50 (volleyball) or $75 (football, men's basketball, women's basketball), and a full GLVC package for all four sports at $100.
McKendree versus Southwest Baptist
In the all-time series dating back to the 2014 season, McKendree holds a 6-2 advantage. Last year's game on Leemon Field went in favor of SBU by the score of 49-31. The last road trip to Southwest Baptist during the 2021 season, resulted in a McKendree 45-42 win.
Scouting McKendree
McKendree is on the hunt for win number one of the season. They hosted Truman State University last week in their GLVC opener and fell 56-24 to the Bulldogs. So far this season, the Bearcats have been outscored 208 to 58 by their opponents.
After recording career highs in receptions (12) and receiving yards (166) against TSU, redshirt junior wide receiver Yogi Flager, Jr is leading the pack of McKendree receivers. He has 402 yards on 38 catches and five touchdowns. The Belleville, Illinois native leads the GLVC in touchdowns and receptions per game. He is also second in the nation for receptions per game.
Caleb Fisher has completed 81 passes for 135 yards and five touchdowns, but he has thrown nine interceptions.
Eddie Clark leads the running backs with 31 carries for 112 yards.
Scouting Southwest Baptist
After opening up the 2023 season with a win over Oklahoma Panhandle State University, SBU has dropped their last four games and sit at an overall record of 1-4 (0-1 GLVC). During the four game losing streak, SBU has been outscored 86-190.
Last week, they opened GLVC play against the Hawks of Quincy University in Quincy, Illinois. Despite leading at the half, SBU let the lead slip away and fell to the Hawks by the score of 38-33.
QB Collin Sutton is 81 of 140 for 1,058 yards and seven touchdowns. He's thrown five interceptions so far this season. Sutton's favorite target has been Kylan Herrara who has caught 20 passes for 406 yards and two touchdowns. Abel Carter leads the way on the ground with 83 carries for 366 yards and two touchdowns.
