BOLIVAR, Mo. - McKendree University women's volleyball triumphed to a five-set win over Southwest Baptist on Friday afternoon. McKendree improved to 14-12 overall on the season as they secured their third consecutive win.
Southwest Baptist showed a strong performance in set one, beating out McKendree 25-15, though McKendree would take two sets in a row both with scores of 25-22. SBU claimed set four, making it two-all heading into the deciding set. In set five, McKendree sealed the win 15-9.
Junior setter Amber Williams sported her consistent double-double numbers as she tallied 42 assists and 12 digs. Sophomore outside hitters Destiny Gray and Lauren Harris led McKendree in kills with 14 and 10 respectively.
On defense, McKendree had three more players with 12 or more digs in addition to Williams. Sophomore libero Ashlyn Berczynski led with 15 while senior right side hitter Colleen Preusser notched 13 and senior defensive specialist Maddie Misner added 12. Senior middle blocker Lauren McCurley was all over the blocks with 10 for the day.
Up next, McKendree closes out its season on Saturday, Nov. 11 in Springfield, Mo., as they take on Drury at 3 p.m.
