EAST PEORIA, Ill. | Corwin Clatt Stadium, EastSide Centre - McKendree University men's soccer (11-2-6) dropped its first game since September, falling to the top-seeded Prairie Stars of Illinois Springfield in the Great Lakes Valley Conference semifinal round. The Bearcats sat fourth in the latest NCAA Super Region III rankings and will await their fate for the upcoming national tournament.
McKendree and UIS battled back and forth early in the late-night contest, with five combined shots in the first half. UIS found a break and scored the eventual game-winner in the 24th minute.
McKendree continued to fight in the game with ample chances in the second half, earning five corner kicks and sending five shots in the game. The Bearcats tallied eight corners with seven shots, including three on-frame. Six players fired shots for Mckendree
The Bearcats were unable to break the UIS defense, ducking out of the GLVC Championship tournament.
NOTES
McKendree dropped its first contest since September with the loss and will await its postseason fate in the NCAA DII selection show on November 13.
McKendree collected five All-GLVC honorees this past week with three second team selections and two third team awardees.
