ROCKFORD, Ill. - McKendree University women's water polo posted a 15-7 road win gainst Augustana this past Saturday for its ninth win of the season. The Bearcats improve to 9-8 overall on the season as they settle into a three-week break before the Erie Conference Weekend in Erie, Pa.
The 15-7 score marked the eighth game that the Bearcats have won by eight or more goals for the 2023 season. In the win, McKendree was led offensively by graduate student Jaleh Moaddeli who netted seven goals and dished out three assists. Fifth-year senior Abigail Burton added four goals while four more Bearcats tallied one goal each.
Defensively, Moaddeli snagged four steals in addition to two steals from sophomore goalkeeper Sydney Kane. Kane held the net for the entire game, collecting 10 saves in the victory.
Overall, McKendree registered a .652 shot percentage, successfully scoring 15 goals on 23 shots. Augustana was 7-for-29 in scoring for a .241 shooting percentage.
The Bearcats will be back in the pool on Saturday, April 1 at the Eric Conference Weekend as they kick off the tournament at 11:30 a.m. ET against Salem University.
